Factors in the Evolution of India's Foreign Policies

Contemporary India's foreign policies are influenced by many factors over the period of time. It has just not evolved from our independence it has lot to do with previous events for eg. historically and culturally India's welcome thinking towards other countries, philosophical traditions are also key factor to influence foreign policies. Initially freedom struggle is the most influencing factor in the formulation of India's foreign policies. As a result of these factors India has always followed few notions viz. notion of tolerance and anti-imperialism. The notion of idealist was followed in the formulation many foreign policies. However, India has also adopted the notion of realist and diplomatic immunity as the time passed. Through all these India has become a leader of southern-hemisphere especially in African countries and South Asian countries. Colonial era has very much influenced these evolution and India was pro-actively against racialism, colonial rule and helped many countries. This implicate India's significant role in commonwealth countries. From the day of independence till today India has evolved very significant doctrines vis-a-vis foreign policies. Panchsheel Doctrine, Non-Alignment Movement, Gujral Doctrine, Singh Doctrine are the important foreign policies to make good relationship with the rest of the Globe. In 2014 Modi Doctrine is also the evolution of the previous treaties vis-a-vis foreign policies. A book written by Shashi Tharoor called Pax Indica which says that by the mid of 21st century India could become the world dominant power due to its previous deeds.
